YouThumb (“we”, “our”) provides a free YouTube thumbnail downloader at youthumb.hardtoeasy.com. We designed the service around a single principle: your activity is yours. This policy explains what the site does and does not collect, how cookies and local storage are used, and how third-party advertising works here.
Your thumbnails never touch our servers
Every thumbnail extraction happens entirely inside your own web browser. When you paste a YouTube link, your browser constructs the thumbnail image address (for example, https://i.ytimg.com/vi/VIDEO_ID/maxresdefault.jpg) and loads the picture directly from YouTube’s servers. Our servers never receive, store, or even see the URLs you paste or the images you download. Closing the tab ends the session completely.
Information we do not collect
- We require no accounts, so we collect no names, usernames, or passwords.
- We never receive the YouTube URLs you paste into the tool.
- We keep no record of which thumbnails you preview or download.
- We build no profiles and perform no behavioral tracking of our own.
Information we do collect
Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure records basic technical data for security and reliability: IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is kept in aggregate or short-term logs and is never linked to your thumbnail activity.
If you email us at support@hardtoeasy.com, we keep your message and address only as long as needed to answer your inquiry and improve the service. We never sell or share contact emails with third parties.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser’s local storage — data that stays on your device — for a small set of functions: remembering your preferred language, your selected image quality, and your recent download history (the “Recent History” section is stored locally on your device only and is never sent to us). You can clear this site data in your browser settings at any time; the core thumbnail tool keeps working, though your preferences will reset.
Third-party advertising
We display advertisements served by Google AdSense (publisher ID ca-pub-1597708697176926) to keep YouThumb free for everyone. Google uses cookies — including the Google advertising cookie — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet. This is known as interest-based (personalized) advertising.
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices. We do not control these third-party cookies, so please review Google’s own privacy policy for full details.
Data security
The site is served over HTTPS, and because thumbnail processing is local, there is no image or activity database to breach. The limited technical data we do hold is protected with standard hosting-level safeguards.
Children’s privacy
YouThumb is a general-audience utility. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
